I would very much enjoy reading this book to a group of children. There is so much to relate Olivia's day with a typical day for a child. In addition, we can have a conversation about why everything Olivia touches is red. We can talk about how much of an impact Olivia has on the things around her. And then we can relate this back to the students and how the things they do or touch make an impact on the world around them too.
“Olivia“ was written by Ian Falconer and was published in 2000. This is a book that talks about Olivia the Pig and her day-to-day life with her family. The illustrations make this book really interesting because everything that Olivia touches or is wearing is red, while the rest of the book is black and white. Another interesting aspect about the illustrations is her brother is always wearing a black and white striped shirt, besides at the beach.
“As soon as she gets home she gives it a try“ This part is funny because she does something shes not supposed to do and can make children laugh.
I would use this book with any classroom when talking about their own routine and different parts of their day that might bring them joy or even make them upset!
“Olivia“ by Ian Falconer was published in 2000 and won the Caldecott award in 2001. It is just about a little pig named Olivia and her day with all the things she loves... and all the things she doesn't like. It is great for students to see something they might relate to in the book and this book has many different parts that might be relatable.
This fun book highlights how young children's imaginations are filled with endless wonder.
Olivia written by Iam Falconer was published in 2000 and received the Caldecott medal in 2001. This book captures the creativity of a strong-minded pig named Olivia. This book shares the story of how Olivia's imagination is endless and how she often wears out her mother.
I enjoyed reading this story because I can relate to how Olivia wants to explore her world. I think students would enjoy reading this book because they might do the same things Olivia does, or they might be interested in doing the same things Olivia does.
Olivia won a Caldecott medal in 2001. This books contains the life of a girl named Olivia and what she likes to do. The illustrations in this book are mostly black and white, but when Olivia is around some of the objects she interacts with are red. This shows the impact she has on the world around her. Olivia is a pig, but she is a very free-spirited girl who likes to try new things.
RIP, Ian Falconer. 🤍💔🖤
Ian exposed corporate malfeasance; had an identity crisis; developed a more stark, modern style; and encouraged seriousness in tandem with play through the persona of Olivia the Pig.
This is a story about a pig named Olivia that is god at a lot of things. She goes to the beach with her mother and won‘t take a nap when she gets home. She goes to the museum and tries to recreate a painting on the wall, and does not want to go to sleep. Her mother tells Olivia that she wears her out but she loves her. It is a very cute story for you get aged children.
This books uses the color red to highlight Olivia‘s objects that she uses throughout the book. I think it helps shows that this stuff is important to her.
This book was a good book to read about the many different ways to fun fun and use your imagination.
I love this book. Olivia is a personal favorite character of mine through books and television. The illustrations always add so much life to the story telling.
This Caldecott Award winning book tells the story of Olivia‘s day to day life. This book flows from activity to activity in such a fun way as it bounces around the pages.
I love this book! This book is also a favorite of mine growing up, I loved Olivia! This is a great book for any young child, and I would love to read it to my future classrooms!
The book Olivia, winner of a Caldecott award is an amazing book! This book is about a young pig named Olivia, who does a bunch of stuff in a day that all make her unique. She tries on dresses, she dances, she goes to the art museum, and she reads!
“Olivia gets dressed. She has to try on everything.” As she should! Feeling confident and expressing yourself throughout your day is something I am still learning! I hope I can help my future students do that.
I think this is a super cute, fun book that would be good for younger kids and possibly even older kids! I think when reading, it would be a great opportunity when trying to teach kids about routines. I also think it would be great to read and then talk about things that each student is really good at. Using it as a morale/ self esteem booster.
Olivia by Ian Falconer 2001. This book takes us through Olivia‘s day, what she likes to do and what she‘s good at. We can tell that Olivia is active and likes to try new things. The pictures are mostly black and white, except the important things are in color, or red! Caldecott
This would be a great story to incorporate at the beginning of the year, to get to know your students better. Overall, this story, invites the students to think about their favorite interests and hobbies. In the story, Olivia gets a time out, because she paints on the wall at home. This part of the story will allow you for discussion about how accidents happen and there may be consequences for those actions being made.
The story Olivia, by Ian Falconer came out in the year 2000. In the year 2001, this story won a Caldecott Medal and Indies Choice Book Award: Children's Illustrated. Olivia is a book that I loved as a kid! This Caldecott award winning book is a MF. It would be a great RA for your class! Olivia is about a pig names Olivia and her life! This would go great with UDL 3.1 (activate or supply background knowledge) as well as EL 4 (link lesson topic to students prior knowledge). Students can use their background knowledge to relate to Olivia, the pig. #ucflae3414sp21

What adventure will Olivia bring you on... you‘ll have to read to find out! This book makes for a great DR due to Olivias very bold and dramatic personality! #ucflae3414su20
“Olivia”, modern fantasy, is by Ian Falconer and has earned a Caldecott medal. It can be used as an independent read, read aloud, or adapted as a reader‘s theater. Olivia is a confident, strong-minded, sassy piggy. This book goes through Olivia‘s days which are always different because she has varied interests from soccer to drama. She always puts her own “Olivia” flair to them. This book can serve as a mirror to a strong-willed child.
This Caldecott Honor picture book is a classic MF about a pig named Olivia who is very hyper and loves to annoy her mother and brother. However, they love her anyway. This story would work as a DR because Olivia‘s character is very dramatic so it would be easy to reenact how she acts in the book. https://www.rif.org/literacy-central/book/olivia This site contains many resources and activities to assess students comprehension of the book and engage
“When they‘ve finished reading, Olivia‘s mother gives her a kiss and says, ‘You know, you really wear me out. But I love you anyway.‘ And Olivia gives her a kiss back and says, ‘I love you anyway too.‘”
A energetic pig in her everyday life! Ups and downs, lots of fun, and adventures with family!
Olivia by Ian Falconer a Caldecott winner published in 2000 was a good book! It was simple and easy to follow, it just showed a simple day that most kids can relate to. I think it was relatable even though it‘s a pig.
When they‘ve finished reading, Olivia‘s mother gives her a kiss and says, “you know, you really wear me out but I love you anyway”.
I loved this book as a kid! I forgot about it till I saw the cover. I‘d love to have this in my classroom someday. Who doesn‘t love Olivia?
