The Destruction of Hillary Clinton
The Destruction of Hillary Clinton | Susan Bordo
4 posts | 2 read | 20 to read
A play-by-play of the political forces (both right and left) and media culture that vilified Hillary Clinton during her 2016 Presidential campaign, from cultural critic and feminist scholar Susan Bordo The Destruction of Hillary Clinton is an answer to the question we've all been asking: How did an extraordinarily well-qualified, experienced, and admired candidate--whose victory would have been as historic as Barack Obama's--come to be seen as a tool of the establishment, a chronic liar, and a talentless politician? In this masterful narrative of the 2016 campaign year, Susan Bordo unpacks the right-wing assault on Clinton and her reputation, the way the left provoked the suspicion and indifference of a younger generation, and the unprecedented influence of the media. Urgent, insightful, and engrossing, The Destruction of Hillary Clinton is an essential guide to understanding the most controversial presidential election in American history.

This is rage inducing. I‘m still not over it so maybe it‘s too soon to listen to this. It‘s got my blood pressure up!

It was too soon. I'm evidently still extremely upset about what happened to Hillary over the course of the election, and that so many don't realize it was happening. However, this book is perfect and needs to be read by everyone. So pick it up as soon as you can handle it, and prepare to be ripped apart.

Notafraidofwords Yes yes yes! I read it and I want everyone to read it!!! 7y

The title sounds offensive towards Hillary Clinton, but it's not meant in that way. The author is actually exploring (in depth) how this extremely qualified and prepared woman lost the election. This was a consuming book and I love the author (she's from Newark, NJ) and all of her shade 🌴 . This is a must read for 2017. Side note: she talks Bernie.

BestOfFates I've heard it's good but the title does make it sound so anti-Hillary! 7y
Notafraidofwords @BestOfFates it really is not. Worst title ever lol. 7y
KennethTolesJr I was certainly about to say that it seems like Hillary took a beating in this book. Lol Titles do crazy things to the psyche. Seems like an interesting read though. I sure do wonder often how she lost even with all of the investigation gobbity-gook going on. Electoral college...ugh... 7y

Only just through the forward and already have a whopping case of read rage. #currentlyreading #imstillwithher

sprainedbrain I'm just looking at the cover in your picture and I have rage. Of course, the news every day fills me with rage... 😡🙁 7y
Andrea313 @sprainedbrain Yeah, same. It's hard to say that I'm enjoying this book since it focuses on tons of upsetting things...but at the same time, I think it's important to have this breakdown of (infuriating) events. 7y
