RealLifeReading @BooksForYears @slategreyskies @Laura317 it's an Indonesian layer cake (lapis = layer). In Singapore we call it kueh lapis and for some reason it's tradition to have it for guests when they visit during the Lunar New Year. It's got lots of eggs and the layers need to be each baked one after the other! I've not made it before but here's a recipe http://rasamalaysia.com/kek-lapis-indonesian-layer-cake/ which uses all-spice so that's a bit diff 7y
