When hockey phenom Billie-Jo Barker returns home and decides to play in the local Friday night hockey league, all hell breaks loose. Not because Billie's talent is in question, but because Billie is a woman. And though these are modern times, some of the local guys still have a problem letting a girl into their 'men's club.' Soon, Billie is at the center of a small town battle of the sexes, with everyone choosing sides. Her sisters. The townsfolk. Her friends. And yet, the only person whose opinion she cares about doesn't seem to care much at all. Logan Forest, the man who broke her heart when she was eighteen and the man she now shares the bench with every Friday night. She's got a lot to prove and though Billie Jo Barker scores on the ice, will this girl ever score with the man of her dreams?

Bailedbailed

When we first meet the guy, he is completely uninteresting. Zip in the chemistry department, no "tell" that this is the guy, no reason to dig deeper... More ink is spilled on the sneering a**hole that he has walked into the store with! Then @ScientistSam mentioned frustrating non-communication issues; and so I decided to bail. (Also, what is going on with the male cover model's hair?!)

A nice twist to have the ex-hockey player be the woman. An entertaining read, with some more solemn and compassionate moments when discussing a parent with what seems like early dementia. However, this is definitely one of those books where you're yelling at the protoganists to actually talk to each other. At least I was!

Dogearedcopy I dnloaded this earlier in the week and started it; but let it languish... Looks like I should give it another chance! 7y
ScientistSam @Dogearedcopy depends on what your romance pet peeves are😁 I did find several elements to be refreshingly different, but the whole not talking to each other about important things gets on my nerves. 7y
Dogearedcopy @ScientistSam The reason I bailed was that when we 1st meet the guy, he is completely uninteresting. Zip in the chemistry department, no "tell" that this is the guy, no reason to dig deeper... More ink is spilled on the sneering a**hole that he has walked into the store with! The only reason I was going to try again was because you gave it a Pick; but TBH, now knowing that they don't really communicate like adults, it'll probably stay on the cloud 7y

A totally #BlameItOnLitsy title, specifically on @EloisaJames. Saw her post about this series and I decided to check it out on Amazon. Found the first one as a freebie, score! Looks like a fun read set in a small town with a female hockey player as its MC.

mangokittty Cute tea cup! Your tea looks like it's glittering. ✨ 7y
Chachic @mangokittty I keep posting this teacup because it's so pretty! A gift from a friend on my birthday earlier this year.😊 Ha, I think the tea looks glittery because of the lighting? 7y

My favorite books by Juliana Stone! The heroines are spunky, funny, fighters--three triplets fighting small town life and the misfortune of having been named Billie-Jo, Bobbi-Jo, & (groan) Betty-Jo. Their guys are laconic, protective alphas with amazing bodies and totally sweet hearts under the gruffness. Start w/Offside, where Billie-Jo (who played hockey in the Olympics!), wants to play in the men's beer league #romantsy. #alphas. #sportsromance

Chachic The first book is a freebie on Amazon so I grabbed a copy 🙌 7y
ECSpaur I loved these books. I also love how they show up in her later series, because they are interrelated, so we can check in on them and how they are doing. 7y
