Platero Y Yo/Platero and I | Juan Ramon Jimenez
3 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
Platero and I, the most popular work by the great Spanish writer Juan Ramn Jimnez (1881-1958), is a series of autobiographical prose poems about the wanderings in Andalusia of a poet and his donkey. This new, accurate English translation is drawn from the complete edition published in 1917. This is the only dual-language edition of this classic of Spanish literature, with an excellent introduction and explanatory notes that will assist students in understanding and appreciating the work.

This is a book that will put you under its calming spell. It's about a poet and his donkey, Platero. The poet has an ongoing conversation with Platero, told in small, journal-like entries. The magic & reality of his surroundings come together in a sweet story about a man and his beloved donkey. AND NOW I WANT A FREAKING DONKEY! 125/1,001 #1001Books

BarbaraBB Hahaha now you want a donkey 😂! I still have to read this one for the list. 6y

Bread is life. It goes with everything: with the oil, the stew, the cheese, and the grapes, giving its flavor of kisses; with the wine, the soup, the ham, with itself, bread with bread. Also it may be bread alone, like hope, or bread with an illusion…

Why does this speak to me on such a spiritual level!? 🍞🍞🍞 #FoodIsBae

#seasonsreadings2016 #NotInEnglish I bought the two books on the top and the one in the middle when I was in Sevilla, Spain a couple summers ago, and the two antique bottom books on the outside I received as a gift from my aunt who had taken her third trip to France. My knowledge of Spanish is very little now unfortunately, but I would like to get back in the habit of using/ practicing it.
