How to Kill a Rock Star
How to Kill a Rock Star | Tiffanie DeBartolo
Written in her wonderfully honest, edgy, passionate and often hilarious voice, Tiffanie DeBartolo tells the story of Eliza Caelum, a young music journalist, and Paul Hudson, a talented songwriter and lead singer of the band Bananafish. Eliza's reverence for rock is equaled only by Paul's, and the two fall wildly in love. When Bananafish is signed by a big corporate label, and Paul is on his way to becoming a major rock star, Eliza must make a heartbreaking decision that leads to Paul's sudden disappearance and a surprise knock-your-socks-off ending. Praise for Tiffanie DeBartolo's God-Shaped Hole "From highs to heartbreak, DeBartolo conjures an affair to remember."--People "Honest, raw, and engaging."--Booklist "This generation's Love Story."--Kirkus Reviews God-Shaped Hole was a Book Sense Top 10 Paperback Selection.

Mehso-so

This book was love at first page (I have a slight obsession with indy rock bands and cute guitarists 😆) but it did go downhill a bit from there, mainly because I thought the MC made some ridiculously idiotic decisions (can't say more without spoilers) and the end, while unexpected, was pretty eye-rolly.

This is one of those rare books that you don't want to end. I love DeBartolo's writing. I love these two main characters. I love how everything is more complex than I expected, which also seems to make it more real. I love how there are words I have to look up to make sure what they mean. Anyone who has loved someone intensely will see flashbacks of how it is to be in that realm again.
It's a beautiful terrible world we live in. 💔

I found this book years ago when I was in my junior year of college. I was a music lover and went to tons of concerts, so I was immediately intrigued by the cover. After reading it, it quickly became a quick favorite and I dreamt of finding my own Paul Hudson. I just reread it again, and though I'm quite a bit older and it doesn't still hold the same power over me, I still love this book. It's almost a guilty pleasure.

I've never been happier in my life. But when dreams come true in reality they never feel the same as when you imagine them, and you know what that means? It means that no matter how good things are, maybe they'll never be good enough, and there's something seriously wrong with that.

HTKARS is by far one of my favorite books of all time, combining music and a passionate love story. It's so gripping with many twists and turns that will keep you hooked until the very end. A truly beautiful expression of just how far one will go for love and happiness.
