The Visible Filth | Nathan Ballingrud
4 posts | 9 read | 5 to read
When Will discovers a cell phone after a violent brawl his life descends into a nightmare. Affable, charismatic and a little shallow, he's been skating across the surface of life in a state of carefully maintained contentment. He decides to keep the cell phone just until the owner returns and everything changes. Then the messages begin. Will's discovered something unspeakable and it's crawling slowly into the light.

Pickpick

Wanted to read this for all the hype the short story created and i wasnt disappointed.
Just finished both the book and the Netflix movie based on it Wounds. Loved it. The novella is well written but for the first time I would say the movie was better. And watching the movie after reading the book is an amazing experience. Those small lilttle parts which the author had left have been portrayed in great detail by the movie.

Alluring cockroaches and mysterious cellphones.... I don't often read horror but Ballingrud is a favorite (check out North American Lake Monsters.)

BookBabe That first bit sounds like an oxymoron to me... 😱 8y
ReadingEnvy @BookBabe I never knew that cockroaches had a sex dance. I'm pretty sure I didn't want to know it but forevermore I will. ;) 8y
