6 posts | 7 read | 1 to read
The Dry Creek Middle School drinking fountain has sprung a leak, so principal Walter Russ dashes off a request to Flowing Waters Fountains, Etc. ...We need a new drinking fountain. Please send a catalog. Designer Flo Waters responds: "I'd be delighted...but please understand that all of my fountains are custom-made." Soon the fountain project takes on a life of its own, one chronicled in letters, postcards, memos, transcripts, and official documents. The school board president is up in arms. So is Dee Eel, of the water-supply company. A scandal is brewing, and Mr. Sam N.'s fifth grade class is turning up a host of hilarious secrets buried deep beneath the fountain.

I just finished reading an advanced copy of Kate Klise's new MG chapter book, and it's adorable! It brought me right back to my 5th grade class when our librarian read us REGARDING THE FOUNTAIN, and we all found it hysterical. There's even more fun puns in her new book which with kick off The Appleton Files series. I cannot wait to see Sarah Klise's illustrations as I know it will bring the whole book together when it pubs spring 2020.

Kaylamburson You'll love it @MrBook! This one also takes place in a school but the Librarian is a main focus! Ivana Beprawpa (the president of the school board and owner of Beprawpa Attire) doesn't like the new libararian, Rita B Danjerous', books as they are causing kids to stay up past their bedtime reading... 4mo

Anyone remember this series? I read a couple as a kid and recently bought the whole set. I love #kateklise and the way she formats her books: pages that look like letters, newspapers, even telegrams bound all beneath this thrilling paperback. #regardingthefountain

Cute YA book, read for a challenge (epistolary). The ‘mystery‘ was pretty good, for a YA book.

This book was just as delightful as it was when I read it as a child. Told though letters, memos, telegrams, and newspaper articles, the book follows a fifth-grade class as the school requests a new drinking fountain from a fountain designer. The designer corresponds with the students, creating fantastical ideas for the fountain and the students unearth a slew of secrets about their town, Dry Springs. I loved it!

This book series about a middle school in Geyser Creek, Missouri is so charming and hilarious.
A busted fountain leads to an amazing friendship with a middle school class and a world-traveling fountain designer. A goofy principal, two scanning criminals, and a town full of characters makes this book series so funny! All told through correspondence. Great book for kids and adults!
