We are out of town for a chiropractic seminar and it‘s pouring rain ☔️ we are actually at the beach, but the weather it terrible! I‘ll just hole up in this room with my books! No complaints here! 📚📚📚

To use a technical term: This book is bananapants, it‘s a crazy ride
Walk Kitu is a professor on nothing. Then he meets John Sill a billionaire, who wants to break into Fort Knox to steal a shoebox containing nothing. And then it‘s a wild ride from then on
Most of the mathematics went over my head, but other than that this is a joyful read with some puns from Everett
It is a gift in this life that we do not know what awaits us 🍂
…that there had been a last time—when they were little—that I had picked up the girls. This had often broken my heart, to realize that you never know the last time you pick up a child. Maybe you say “Oh, honey, you‘re getting too big to be picked up” or something like that. But then you never pick them up again 🥺
May reading - not including digital/audio reads for a total of 14 this month- with a side of cacti friends. Fave of the month was Rise of the Red Blade, least fave The Spanish Love Deception.
I really didn't see the point of this book. I mean maybe I liked the Vincent character, but there was a lot of other stuff going on. Anyone like this? I would welcome other perspectives. I think Station Eleven was so much better.

I loved I Am Pilgrim and was desperate to read this… however I have mixed feelings now that I am finished. Brilliantly written and a very well weaved plot, however I just found it too implausible to really enjoy this book as much as I did the first. A little disappointed but cannot deny that Terry Hayes is a fantastic writer.
😳 I‘ve been bailing left & right on audiobooks, including the tagged novel, The Wren the Wren, two Toibin novels, among others.
I‘m in an audio drought. 🏜️🌵
Starting this since I finished Station Eleven & learned that there are connections with that book, this book, and Sea of Tranquility. I must say I‘m not enjoying the audiobook narrator - she doesn‘t do mens‘ voices well. Oh well…

A few years ago my bookclub read Good Talk by Mira Jacob. I loved it so much that I ordered her novel, which then spent years on my bookshelf.
What a wonderful story. It‘s about a South Indian family living in Albuquerque. It moves from past to present and back, with a lot of focus on Amina and her father, who has a mysterious illness. The intricacies of love and different ways of expressing it, and the wedges grief can create. It‘s 5⭐️ for me.
