Rereading Crocodile on the Sandbank last month gave me the momentum I needed to start rereading this whole series. I really enjoyed this book even more the second time around. Amelia and Emerson are just a fantastic couple, and Amelia's narration is hilarious. The historical detail is also excellent. And maybe by the time I'm done rereading this series I'll remember whether it's spelled pharoah, phaoroh, or pharaoh. 😂

I love a graphic memoir. It‘s such a cool way to take in someone‘s story. This was about an American girl‘s changing relationship with her father and step-family in Egypt, told through snapshots of her summer visits. I really enjoyed it.

My pacifist heart loved this book and cried over it in equal measure. Featuring Gertrude Bell, whom I first met years ago in Wallace‘s Desert Queen, T E Lawrence, and Winston Churchill as minor characters, the protagonist is witness to the Cairo Conference and its fallout that we are still experiencing. The story is engaging, and the final chapter provides much to think about. And Rosie the dachshund steals the show. #bookspin #24in2024

#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024 The first book in this series didn‘t contain a single murder, an interesting choice to start off a mystery series. This, the second book in the series, made up for that absence by providing us with multiple victims. I enjoy Amelia‘s character and the way she takes charge of every situation. And she has met her match 💯 in Emerson. And Ramses is simply marvelous!!

A suffragist & scholar of Egyptology,Amelia Peabody is the epitome of the 1920s modern woman.Armed with her journal, umbrella(a handy weapon),& new friend Evelyn, she travels down the Nile to the architectural site of the Emerson brothers. What follows is a wild caper filled with “accidents,” unknown enemies,man-made and environmental obstacles, evil adversaries, supernatural forces,& romance.

StaceGhost I love how she talks about the evil adversary lol 3w
