I couldn‘t help myself. My disappointment with #BOTM the past several months has led me to join #aardvarkbookclub and I‘m thrilled.
My most anticipated book for this month was on there plus at least 6 more that I wanted. Combine that with a $4 code for your first book and they got me. 🤞

Has anyone else switched? What are your thoughts?

JamieArc I haven‘t totally switched. But I‘ve become pretty blase about BOTM and it seems that between the two subscriptions, there is something to be excited about. 23m

This book surprised me. The prologue was explaining the typical characters and tropes and plot lines of the ‘hallmark movie‘ style books. But, it worked. And the story was really good.

This was challenging. Necessary story about all types of love, but so used to this narrative with an older male pursuer. The anxiety and naïveté of the main character was heartbreaking and difficult to encounter. Likely because it felt relatable. The abusive scenes likewise were deeply uncomfortable

Read for #Roll100 (#59) in May (I‘m catching up with reviews) & this was a fun take on The Bachelor. Not much of a Cinderella retelling as advertised other than the MC being named Cindy & having (not evil) stepsisters/stepmother, but it‘s a cute body-positive rom-com book. I had a #OnceUponABookClub box for it & got gifts to open which made it fun. This is part of a Meant To Be fairytale series by different authors.

The depiction of academia in this book is sadly accurate, but it‘s even more mean in real life.
Olive fake dates a tenured professor and is just shocked when things get complicated for her at work. I really didn‘t like how toxic her friendships seemed to be and I didn‘t like Olive either. Adam was a super researcher which I loved, he was the only character I liked.
2/5 stars read for accurate academic setting but lame characters

It was boring. The characters are very immature and childish. A lot of telling and not showing. The big reveal was predictable for me. ⭐️⭐️
