#StorySettings Day 27: Not necessarily a #Lake but a river - same body of water, I suppose. Lols. Now that I finished the Daevabad Trilogy, I can‘t wait to read this one. Paired with peanut butter parfait for dessert with acai sorbet, salted caramel, summer fruits and mint, and peanut crumbs (which we had prepared on the side, rather than in the parfait itself). 😋

There‘s a sub genre at the moment- small, quiet novels set in coastal Irish towns with amazing covers.
Reading on a quiet Sunday morning.
That one was written by a friend of my dad... not sure yet about the story or the style but it is taking place in a city I like, by the sea :)

PROMPT: ATTIC
After her husband died, Merritt left their home in Maine and headed to South Carolina to Cal's grandmother's home that she had inherited.
Grandmother Edith's home is a huge mansion where she kept secrets locked up inside herself and in the “attic.”
Suspense and mystery as well as addressing the issue of domestic violence.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Bodies are weird things to live in.” Indeed they are. This slim novel about teen female boxing was a bit less developed than I‘d hoped, but stylistically, the snippets ended up working well. The incessant firstname lastname repetition started driving me mad by the halfway mark, though.
