Finally finished Carman's The Land of Elyon series, Stargazer being the last one. It was good to read that each character finally found their own separate peace, but the way that the evil Abaddon went out was a little drab for my liking. However, reading this series to your children would create enough suspense and thrill for them!

If you're looking for a book to read after George Vanderbilt died to see what happened to the Biltmore Estate, I highly recommend this book. An amazing landmark of North Carolina is satisfactorily portrayed in the pages of this book. A great read before or after seeing the Estate!

I enjoyed the concept of the book, but I don't think it was very well executed. I wish there had been more pictures of the estates, and more excerpts from diaries and memoirs to allow the reader to get a better grasp on the life of servants.
