Gentleman in Moscow | Amor Towles

I was slow to read this book but I really liked it, a relaxing read that brings you gently through those turbulent times in Russia during the revolution. Not being a history addict I learned a great deal as well as engaging with some wonderfully crafted characters.

Cathythoughts Hi @Julielovesbooks I havnt read this one. Great review... sounds really good 👍🏻❤️❤️ 6y
Andrew65 @Cathythoughts I loved this book too. 6y

Pickpick

I loved this book, I was absorbed from early on, fascinating characters. The story rolls on, as I read it the cleverness of the title became more and more clear to me. All the different personalities show up the best and worst in each other. A true picture of people living life in different ways, with different values! The ending is not surprising but beautifully crafted. So sorry to have finished it.

Cathythoughts I missed this post when it went up. Beautiful artwork @Julielovesbooks ✨✨✨✨perfect for this book ✨ (edited) 6y

The Silent Wife | A.S.A. Harrison

Finished The Silent Wife, bit tedious but really liked the twisted end! Didn‘t see it coming, truly. So onwards and upwards still searching for a book that has a true impact. It‘s been a while.....

Well, still reading this book, I think that she is going to kill him!!! If I was in her position I would definitely finish him off!
This book is charged with the unfair balance of the sexes! Todd is so arrogant and thinks that the world is there just for his pleasure. Fictional character???

Cathythoughts I like the sound of this one !! Must investigate 👍👍 6y

The Silent Wife: A Novel | A. S. A. Harrison

So now I am reading the “other” Silent Wife!
This is definitely a slow burner! I am getting into it now that I am about half way through.
Trouble is, I don‘t like any of the characters....yet.

So anyway, I am reading the wrong book!!
There are two “Silent Wife” books”
I meant to read the Harrison one!! Best seller Sunday times etc but I am reading one by Kerry Fisher, no patent on book names obviously 😂😂😂

Andrew65 Are you enjoying the wrong book? 7y
Ms_T I did a similar thing with The Girl on the Train. By mistake I read 7y
Julielovesbooks I like it, characters are interesting and I like the storyline! Just surprised that books can have the same title. Life is so confusing 😂😂😂 7y

So, I am getting into this book, intriguing characters but so far I cannot see any connection between them. This makes me want to sit down and read a great big chunk of it!

Cathythoughts Yes, it takes awhile for the stories to connect. I thought the writing was beautiful 💕I know a big chunk of time is what I‘m looking for too 🙄👍 (edited) 7y

Birdcage Walk: A Novel | Kate Riordan

So I finished it, not the best read that I have ever experienced but an interesting story. However I was fascinated to read the afterword by Helen Dunmore, a real insight about how she constructed the story.

Reading this at the moment, bit dark in places, such a lovely writer, so sad that she has died at such a young age.
