Mehso-so

The book starts off with a group of high school students that come from very different backgrounds and social groups. Since Simon was planning to release the rest of the groups secrets, they all had a motive. Addy cheats on her boyfriend, Nate sells drugs and Bronwyn cheated on her chemistry exams. However, Cooper‘s secret about taking steroids isn‘t true; his true secret is that he is gay. 3y

hannah.comchi If you like books that unravel secrets and investigate murder, then this book is for you.

I rated this book as So-So because I was able to figure out easily that Simon was the victim of his own murder so after that I became less interested.

hannah.comchi The book is told in the first person point of view of the four different students who are accused of Simon's murder. It switches from chapter to chapter giving insight on each characters life. The readers get to see what the characters thoughts are and who they trust, this method was perfect for the plot. It was able to give the readers many hints and clues in small quantities making the book difficult to put down.

MissYaremcio Nice work Hannah! This sounds like an excellent novel! The POV might be a bit off, it might be closer to a Third Person category based on the fact that there are several narrators, so I will only take off 0.5! Overall, nicely done! 5.5/6 3y

Pickpick

The Kite Runner is the story of Amir, a Sunni Muslim, from Afghanistan. Amir was an only child after his mother died during labor and was raised by his father, who he calls Baba. He also lives with Ali and Hassan, the servants, the a Shi‘a Muslim (a minority that isn‘t treated well). Hassan is Amir‘s age and they were very close friends for most of their childhood.

hannah.comchi Continuation of summary: Each year they competed together in the Kite Flying Competition, Amir always flew the kite, Hassan always ran. Running a kite is this book means to collect the fallen kite of your competitor before another can. Their relationship unfortunately slips away due to after effects of traumatic childhood events. Years later Amir seeks to right his wrongs.

hannah.comchi A motif in The Kite Runner was betrayal and redemption. When Amir witnesses Hassan getting assaulted, he decides not to intervene. From then he becomes overcome with guilt and finds it hard to look at himself and Hassan.
