People kept mentioning Mary Gaitskill and then I came upon this one in a used bookstore, so I figured it was a sign from the heavens. I underlined so much of it, there are really amazing sentences and bits and it left me feeling hopeful and like whatever happens in your life is possibly worth it in the long run.

A quick and engaging read about Azria, a mage of Miz and her pirate mother. It's fun, and charming, and there's a variety of characters who I enjoyed getting to know, enough that I'm hoping there will be more books about them, because this one (unsurprisingly) is very much the story of Azria.

One of the first pages of this book has the line "What I tell you should be read quickly like when you look", so I allowed myself to race through it. Will re-read and underline excessively later, it is for sure well worth coming back to!
