I just picked this book up, it's my first PKD book. I am struggling a bit because I'm not super into the drug trip topics but I'll push through, there isn't too much to go.

This book had lovely language but questionable content. I always have a hard time enjoying a book when I don't like any of the characters. It's hard to not be offended by this book and it's sentiments.

I have really enjoyed this series though this book was different. I was annoyed by the changes in the characters, not all of them but really I just wanted more from before. I know that is a me issue but it was a long book to endure change I didn't want. It was exciting but long.

TrishB I didn‘t enjoy this one either- though I loved the rest of the series 🤷‍♀️ 11mo

Some of the language was difficult because it is either dated or culturally coded, not sure. It is still quite a shocking tale which is worth a read.

Soozee This was a compulsory read for me at school, about 50 years ago. It was such a contrast to #TheCoralIsland which I read around the same time. (edited) 13mo

As always Sarah MacLean does a fantastic romance tale with smuttiness, though as always I could have done with even more. Oh, and I wholeheartedly agree with the author's pick of who to imagine for Duncan West. Alexander Skarsgard is one of the very few blonde men I find quite delicious.

This is my first m/m naughty book and it was a complete surprise as I don't usually read the synopsis of series I am working through. I never would have picked a m/m to read on my own, not that I have a problem with it but I enjoy the naughty times in these books and never would have thought the two males would be so fun. I was wrong, this was fun though I feel Cole's weakest and shortest in the series so far.

One more down off of my NPR top 100 SciFi and Fantasy books with finishing Assassin's Apprentice. I was not terribly excited reading this, it had really good parts between long, slow chapters. It got especially good towards the end but... I don't believe I'll continue this series.

TrishB It‘s a warm up for the rest of the series - it‘s slow build but well worth it over the full series. 2y

This was absolutely lovely. A week in the life of a human living like a sprite, someone broken who is dealing with that in the most magical way. I can't believe how harsh others are about this book, entitled consumers making demands. BUT... whatever. I thought the book was a perfect tale of Auri.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm one who -loved- the film. There is a bit of diversion and mystery in this story than the movie, some superfluous characters. Father Karras and Marrin were both amazing and impactful characters, written so well. The subject of the rational man made easier to question, easier to doubt, fantastic.
