Spill Zone | Scott Westerfeld

5/5 thank you NetGalley for an advance copy!
Something weird and unknown happened years ago in what's come known as "the spill zone" where people and some animals turned into meat puppets, or worse, they became completely flat. Addison makes money but traveling into this terrifying area and taking photographs even though it is illegal. Overall, it's super weird but very enjoyable. I have so many questions but I have to wait for more!!

GUYS!!!! I cannot say how much I loved this book! The plot is unique and interesting, and the artwork is really nice as well! 5/5 I'll recommend this to fans of Gravity Falls and anyone who enjoys paranormal weirdness. Basically, Greg has been dealing with a bunch of stuff he lost his mom, and people see him as a freak because he was born without a shadow. His shadow comes back to wreak havoc on the town.

A quick enjoyable read although sometimes it is a little predictable. It's a great book to end a reading slump! 4/5 Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy!

4/5 this was a fun, spooky read! The Creeps is a collection of comics about random fears, and I found it to be very relatable at times. Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc, I really enjoyed it.

The Circus | Olivia Levez

3/5
It's not the best book I've ever read, but it was interesting. Circus is about a teenage girl on the run from her life. Willow has never known her mom, only a story about her being in the circus. She hates her soon to be stepmother, so much that it triggers her to act out on the day of their wedding and runs away to join the circus to be like her mom. Running away wasn't as easy as Willow thought it would be.

A Court of Mist and Fury | Sarah J. Maas

Small spoilers are scattered throughout.

Sarah j Maas is just stupidly overrated.

I will say I enjoyed Feyre's character development, she becomes more badass as she develops her powers.

I liked that there were sex scenes, but they were poorly executed. They were overly cheesy and the dialogue was just plain terrible.
Example: "I want you splayed out on the table like my own personal feast."
WHAT THE SH*T.

5/5 I loved this!

I REALLY enjoyed Black Canary's stand alone series, and was so sad when I heard they discontinued it, she's so bad ass! Anyway, I decided to pick this to read because of her, and it was so worth it! This is a great introduction, and sets up the series very nicely. If you're a fan of Batgirl, Black Canary, or just girl power in general, do yourself a favor and read this, you won't be disappointed.

5/5 I will admit there are flat parts especially in the beginning, but it wound up actually being genius! I loved all the puns, and the humor is perfect! There are brilliant references throughout, so give this a shot!

Starting this for a book club. I'm not a Sarah J Maas fan, I hated Throne of Glass 😰

tea.n.books I thought I was the only one on the internet who didn't care for Maas. 🙃I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on this series. I just finished Court of Mist and I'm still not sure how I feel about her.. 7y
The-bookie-monster I didn't continue ToG after the first, and honestly I wasn't going to continue ACOTAR but it got picked for a book club. I'm enjoying ACOMAF more than its prequel so far but I'm in the same boat. 7y
The-bookie-monster I just got up to the sex scene with Rhysand. While I appreciate that she doesn't shy away from sex like YA novels usually do, I think the dialogue is super cheesy. 7y

Jonesy Vol. 1 | Sam Humphries
Pickpick

I love all the stuff Boom Studios has been doing lately, and this is no different! Thank you NetGalley for the E-Arc!

Jonesy is about a high school girl who has the power to make people fall in love, and hijinx ensue from there. Her powers create weird situations that she she needs to fix. I love the diversity here! This is one of the most diverse books I've read in a while.

Girl with the Red Balloon | Katherine Locke

From the moment I started this I was hooked! Thank you NetGalley! The is the story of Ellie Baum who travels back to 1988 East Germany via magic red balloon. I thought the characters were interesting, well-developed and pretty diverse, with Ellie being Jewish and Mitzi being lesbian. Benno's story confused me at first but then it made sense when you find out who he is.
Read this book you're probably gonna cry, but it's worth it.

Running with Scissors: A Memoir | Augusten Burroughs

This book is intense! It's a memoir about being a gay boy growing up with a crazy mother who leaves her son with a crazier family. There are funny moments, and heartbreaking ones as well and plenty of scenes that make you audibly say "what the f*ck?!"

This was such an awesome read! I've been obsessed with true crime, lately I've been listening to the My Favorite Murder podcast amongst others so the time- travel aspect was an added bonus for me. Think of it as Doctor Who only he has to kill his would-be companions. I can't recommend this enough, I can't wait to read Broken Monsters by her!
