I don't understand the hype surrounding this book. The writing left a lot to be desired, and it becomes obvious fairly early on who committed the crime. If you want a well-done whodunit, look to Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl. Flynn's writing is superb and her plot is suspenseful and gripping.

Saying I couldn't wait to get to the end of this book would be an understatement. TNOTW was recommended to me because I absolutely loved The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. It's evident Rothfuss is a fan of these works as well. His first in the Kingkiller Chronicle played like a badly executed hodgepodge of all of the genre's tropes, without the attention to character development and plot. I won't be picking up the sequel.
