The Confessions of Nat Turner | William Clark Styron
Pickpick

Let the controversy surrounding this book be the reason you read it. I read it for a history class, and wound up wrapped deep into the life of Nat Turner. Styron took a chance in the 1960‘s, a white author writing the innermost thoughts of an 1830‘s African American slave. The prose is strong, the story never dull, and the minute details such as food and dress historically accurate and educational.
