I actually enjoyed this book. It tells the story of a make shift zoo in a rural Nebraskan town. I never got bored and read it in two days. Recommend it if you‘re looking for something different.

Pretty solid book. Nothing life changing though. The story was paced well as the pages kept turning pretty fast and I never got bored. The ending was good but not great.

No better way to bring in the new year than reading about Star Wars, watching bowl games, and drinking coffee.

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I recently started collecting the Wheel of Time series. I'm hoping to start it in the new year, but it's a bit intimidating tbh. But I'm going to try. 😊 6mo
Nebula_of_Books @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Epic books that should be read slowly so you can pick up on as much stuff as possible. Each book takes me around 2-3 weeks and I‘m a pretty fast reader. Hoping to read #3-4 this year 6mo

Great epic fantasy novel though I can understand some people‘s criticisms of it being too slow paced. I felt like the first half and second half were totally separate books but nonetheless, I loved it!

Good book but probably the worst in the trilogy. Slightly confusing plot but definitely a solid novel. Read the first two first!!! Lots of back story needed to appreciate this one fully.

Starting this one today. He‘s one of my favorite authors and nothing says “HELLO AUTUMN!” like a nice horror novel.

So let me start off by saying this book is wonderful... but man is it long! I was happy to have finished it and would definitely recommend it but it is such a dense story that it made it impossible for me to read more than 50-60 pages per day. After I finished it, I went 3 days without reading anything! (Highly unusual for me).

I don‘t want to sound like a jerk BUT I didn‘t really like Hannah as a person. The book itself was interesting but I felt like her and I would never be friends. She sounded like a whiny, entitled person the whole book which I was okay with (honestly) but when she had an affair with a married man I kind of grew to dislike her. Sorry if I‘m a horrible person but marriage vows are quite important to me.

I have always loved the 1980-2000s fantasy series Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms (especially the cover art - they just don‘t do cover art like this anymore!). Excited to start this one!

Another Kindle First selection for me, this book was decent but not great. The writing was a bit slow but the characters were enjoyable. Unfortunately, I just don‘t see me remembering much about this book in six months.

Personally this book was just okay. It definitely had a unique premise but I just got a little bored with it. I chose this as my Kindle First selection about a year ago so all in all, it was memorable and worth reading.

I hate to be “that guy” but this book was good, not great. The first 70% was tremendous but then the book just kept going... and going... and going... I felt like an ending was never going to surface but when it did the writing got a bit convoluted. Good book but not as great as original trilogy. Definitely needed to be trimmed down by about 40 pages.

This book has been on my Kindle since it came out. I loved the original cover art and the plot seemed interesting so I picked it up. The book, however, isn‘t really a novel as much as it is a collection of short stories centered loosely around one girl, Eva. I liked the stories but I felt like the book was a bit disjointed. The writing was good but the book as a whole just seemed to lack something.

susanw I‘ve had this on my kobo since it came out also. I haven‘t read it yet either, but thanks for the heads up on the linked short stories. I thought it was a novel and would have been kinda bummed when I eventually did read it. 14mo
Nebula_of_Books @susanw I think that‘s a big reason why I gave it a 6/10. I just don‘t think I was ready for the short story format. The final “chapter” was nice and attempts to tie everything together. 14mo

Interesting book but I felt like it was a bit too long. The main guy is a total creep but the main girl kinda got what she deserved (minus the ending... and the murders...). I honestly hated everyone in this book but it was still a good read.

I‘ve been feeling a little burnt out lately with work and life in general. We have a great vacation coming up next month which I‘m hoping will recharge my battery. It‘s frustrating being told you need to pay off your student loans! by some then being told you need to plan for retirement! by others. Just feel like I‘m being pulled in many different directions.
But Books! My refuge! My get away and my peace.
