Sammy's Hill | Kristin Gore

I'm a few pages into Sammy's Hill and I'm already so happy there is a second book. Kristin's written for Futurama and SNL and is working on a ScarJo-starring film adaptation of Jon Ronson's The Psychopath Test (one of my favorite books) and, based on what I've read so far, it's in very good hands.

Thank you Walter Mosley for my new favorite series. It's 1948 in Los Angeles and Easy Rawlins is struggling just to keep his one small piece of the American Dream. Racism, brutality, and injustice saturates the city and it makes all the pulpy detective fiction tropes I love feel scary and alive.

GuiltyFeat Ooh looks like you're just getting started. Easy Rawlins is one of the greats, just don't get on the wrong side of Mouse. 8y
MacDuffsCouchDilemma @GuiltyFeat Yeah I heard a new book in the series was coming out and I decided to jump onboard like 20 years late. It's great to hear it keeps up the high quality and that Mouse returns as misanthropic as ever. Love these characters. 8y

In five movies, Mark Harris demystifies the volatile heady mixture of 1960s Hollywood that soon erupted into that holy period of American cinema: New Hollywood. The massive cast and their stories flicker between sleaze and beauty. It's as dense, thrilling, and intoxicating as the era's best films.
