Officially finished this audiobook. It took my a while to get invested in the story, but once I was I couldn't put it down. Doerr wrote beautiful characters that were complex and sympathetic. I really enjoyed how the timeline switched from the bombing of Saint-Melo back to the characters' childhood and back again. I could see how the storylines slowly spiraled closer to each other and neatly came together near the end. 4.5/5

Super excited about these two books I picked up tonight! Not only did I have a delightful dinner with my friends, I also got to go to the bookstore. Now I just need to fit them into my TBR!

I meant to read Binti but ended up listening to this on audio instead! I LOVED this book. Okorafor is such a great author. This book sucked me in from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down. The characters were delightful and I was rooting for Sunny and her friends the whole time.

This was an adorable adventure depicted in black and white. I loved the illustration style and I think there is so much possibility for story creation since the book has no text. Readers can imagine their own conversations and backstory, which makes for a super enjoyable and engaging read.

I have been in such a huge reading slump lately. I've been spending a ton of time reading and writing for my summer class that I haven't been motivated to read for myself. I've also been avoiding the two 500+ page book club reads I have coming up. Hoping this will be a nice change of pace and get me out of this slump.

This must be the summer of Riordan for me because it's the third book of his that I've read since the end of April. This was a reread for me and I think I loved it even more than the first time around.

This book was just as delightful as it was when I read it as a child. Told though letters, memos, telegrams, and newspaper articles, the book follows a fifth-grade class as the school requests a new drinking fountain from a fountain designer. The designer corresponds with the students, creating fantastical ideas for the fountain and the students unearth a slew of secrets about their town, Dry Springs. I loved it!

I don't know what I was expecting from this book, but I wasn't in love with it. It was interesting enough that I kept it on during my three hour drive, but I don't know if I'd recommend the book. It read like a textbook but not a great one. Overall, 3/5 stars

This book was unbelievably good. It was heart-wrenching to read about the everyday racism Justyce faces while also beginning to discuss whiteness and systems of oppression in LIS. This book was beautifully written and I feel lucky to have read it.

This was a hard read but so necessary to get through. The author reads the audiobook and delivers the book as it's written: a powerful sermon on how to do better.
