This one is book 2 yet it can totally stand alone. If you like elements of sci fi, detective stories and mysteries, with a touch of humor, definitely read these books.

I gave it 3 stars due to not enough character development surrounding the mystery. The mains are all good and solid, but lacking something in the story overall. It was readable and light but honestly, nothing thrilling.

Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.

Gave this a reread. In today‘s current climate, this is more horrifying than ever. It definitely meant more to me today than in my 20s.

SquidgetsRoom I read this is HS & wasn‘t a fan but, bought it not long ago for a reread as well. Thought maybe I‘d be better able to appreciate it now that the world is the way it is. 2w

This author does a beautiful job describing what it‘s like to make these sort of discoveries. I am adopted and recently found my birth family. Whether it‘s a good experience or not, mine was mixed, we deserve to know the truth of where we come from. It‘s importance cannot be measured.

I knew I had a mystery to solve, this poor woman didn‘t know until she was 54. I cannot imagine the shock. Well
Done.

Megabooks I hope you are able to build a relationship with your birth family. 💙 1mo

This is about A 3 1/2 stars for me. Characterization was a bit flat and much repetitiveness throughout. Definitely needed more creativity. However it did keep me turning the pages quickly.

I can‘t recommend how wonderful this book is enough. Joyful, heartbreaking and insightful.

Which is what we all want from art, isn‘t it? When someone pins down something that feels like it lives inside us? Takes a piece of your heart out and shows it to you? It‘s like they are introducing you to a part of yourself.

It is important not to confuse “patriotism” with “nationalism.” As I define it, nationalism is a monologue in which you place your country in a position of moral and cultural supremacy over others. Patriotism, while deeply personal, is a dialogue with your fellow citizens, and a larger world, about not only what you love about your country but also how it can be improved.”

I honestly don‘t think I‘m equipped to review but will try.

A man whose dreams alter reality and and a doctor who wants to harness and control those dreams, was fantastic. In a world that has a multitude of problems, the doctors good intentions to control the dreams to make the world a better place, however it comes with dangerous side effects.

God complexes are extremely dangerous even when benevolent.

What a strange, weird, story that I cannot exactly out my finger in a category that quite describes it. It‘s definitely a mashup of horror, dreams, mystery, adventure, romance, joy, sadness, tenderness all rolled up into one big epic tale. Not for the squeamish!

What a colossal waste of time! I‘m giving it 2 stars ⭐️ because the writing itself is amazing. Her ability to write beautifully is a pleasure. However each of these stories were pointless, dull and who the hell cares! I want my short stories to have a point!

I keep trying to find good short stories and come up dissatisfied.

I remember seeing this made for TV movie
As a young adult and was horrified that a mother could shoot all
Her kids in cold blood. I found the book to be just ok. I believe partly due to the fact that Ann Rule read the audio. She is a terrible narrator and found her distracting. Although she gets to the heart of this story and shows through testimony how empty and sociopathic Diane Downs is in a very clear and concise fashion.

It‘s imaginative, clever twists , reads like a chess match and reminds me very much of Neil Gaiman in its creativity and world building. I feel the author went on too long and at certain points I was like ok let‘s get moving. It needed some editing and cleaning up in parts. I feel
If it was a bit shorter and clearer in some parts, I would have loved it. But for now I‘ll say I liked it.

There is nothing like a good who done it to pass the time. This was a pretty good take on sluicing. Our main character relives the murder of a woman at party each night, each day in 8 different people attending the party. The only way out of this never ending loop is to solve the mystery using his insights he gets from different perspectives from each character. Cool idea, yes? Yes and no. Didn‘t really work. Bold ideas though 👏🏻👏🏻

A brilliant concept and horrible execution. It gets a so-so for compelling idea and the ability to keep the pages turning. Author got stuck here and there and would not advance storyline in places. You couldn‘t really know your characters so I didn‘t care about them. Lastly, if you‘re going to write a book about the end of the world we‘ll finish it! Don‘t just....???
