I read Links Get in Trouble and was moved by it on so many levels ... then I forgot about her for awhile. Stranger Things Happen turned up and I'm excited to read it. Will be intrigued to note difference in writing, if any, as this collection is from 15 years ago.

Handmaid's Tale | Margaret Atwood

Taking small bites of this novel for the first time. It's a tough read, particularly in these very uncertain times. And I may have witnessed early 2017 in a nutshell earlier today. While watching the Super Bowl, a commercial for the Hulu adaptation was featured. Yeah, we've got some kind of year ahead of us.

Panpan

I tried. I really did. But no, just no. Whitehead may be a talented wordsmith, but it just doesn't resonate with me. My first attempt with this joker was Zone One. That was a flop, and Railroad gave me the same icky feeling. This guy is just so in love with his own ability to string words together in a pleasing way, but it's just not for me.

The Deep | Nick Cutter
Pickpick

The Deep employed many effective methods to wrap me up in the story, claustrophobia being by far the most successful. The closeness of a deep-sea vessel, and the implacable weight of an ocean bearing down on the ship, all while the humans on-board tried to solve a mystery and stay alive ... this was a truly terrifying few hours. I'll leave it at this: prepare yourself to be unsettled, and regularly checking over your shoulder. Rating: 9/10
