The “real real” story of Rapunzel
1. Doctor Manhattan
3. Quantum mechanics fascinates me, but Dr. Manhattan‘s character is so nihilistic, so cold, so removed and so egotistically still human, I roll my eyes at him every time I reread. Even less lovable than Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. Heroes set aside their own agendas, Doctor Manhattan chooses to disengage. What bought him in the first place!? brain
“Three days they journeyed...”
How I feel right now after having to learn 30 tunes for a gig tomorrow, I‘ve had almost no time to read anything but charts. Can‘t wait for Monday (see: #DayOfReading I mean resting) 🤪 #jazzyjune #buddyreadWoT #WoTseries #epic #longreads #jazzandbooks #saturday #summerreads #girlswhoread #teammat #blameitonlitsy
So for some reason, this time around, I picture Emond‘s Field to look like Sonoma Plaza, in Sonoma, CA. Haven‘t been there in a few years, and I used to picture Rand‘s farm and the West Wood less vividly than I do now. Speaking of places with a view to sit and drink Tam‘s Apple brandy, are YOU — A) Brandy B) Cider or C) Ale? I‘m sour ale/whiskey. #WoT #buddyreadWoT #beersandbooks #sonomawood @DannyHattan @Ashley_Nicoletto @wanderinglynn
“We enter here.” I read all the way to Chapter 22 yesterday and decided to slow the pace and go through my reading notes and develop this deeper feeling I have with the storylines, knowing where they will go, and coming from a reader position now a decade later.
“Are you coming, Wisdom?” (I ask myself the same question every day.) Moraine is queen of throwing shade, I love her...almost forgot how much. @DannyHattan and Everyone doing this read: do you have favorite characters yet???? #buddyreadWoT #longreads #summerreading
Reading this (slightly behind schedule) with The Great American Read Goodreads group...I had downloaded it on to my Kindle and found myself hating the translation. After hearing that the Robin Buss English translation is The One, I picked up a copy and am making my way through. I have found myself laughing out loud several times at the dialogue. So far, it is as funny and enjoyable as everyone says.
Just what I needed!!! I had the flu, bedridden, was feeling very sorry for myself, picked this up. I found myself thankful for my bed to be sick in, and thankful that there are humans like Deo in existence. Cured me of my poor-me‘s. ***Story of the Hutus and Tutsis is very eerily familiar...the blood feud between farmers and herders going on for as long as people have been settling into existence and talking about it. #offtheshelf #traveltales
