Last Stop on Market Street is about a grandma and grandson encountering different people/places, while taking public transportation. Readers will not know the final destination until the end, so it is great for modeling how to make a prediction. It does a great job at teaching readers how to appreciate what they have/to give to others. It has beautiful vocabulary! If this were not a picture book, I could easily visualize the story. #ucflae3414sp20

ShardaeP UDL 9.3 Develop self assessment and reflection: The grandma teaches her grandson to appreciate his surroundings and be grateful for what they have.
ESOL: Encourage self talk (positive thinking). The grandma redirects her grandson's thoughts, each time he complains throughout the trip.

ShardaeP This book is a Newbery award winner. It is considered realistic fiction. Last Stop on Market Street is great for a RA, because it can be used to model how to make predictions and to expand vocabulary. http://www.readwritethink.org/professional-development/strategy-guides/teacher-r... is a great website that provides educators with RA strategies. It includes before, during, and after reading tips. 4y
