Typical Patterson, CIA, terrorism, action; well written. Atypical Patterson, the main character is gay married man/father of an adopted daughter/CIA agent with a beautiful, smart female, cop bestie. The good guys win. Entertaining read.

I read the first one because of tv show with Allen Cummings. This one I read because I just wanted to check in with these characters.
“A straight girl shacking up with two gay white guys who have a black South African baby,” he said. “And we‘re all eating Chinese food. This is either a Benetton ad or the pilot for a sitcom that‘s trying way too hard.”😍

I enjoyed the second book in the Instinct series. It seemed to focus on Dylan because of his CIA past, so I did find myself wanting more Lizzie. I really liked the added secondary characters (Julian, Foxx, and Dylan‘s father).
