The #injustice is that this isn‘t true for a lot of people. #Quotsy #QuotsyJan19 #LitsyQuoteChallenge

I was not even looking for today‘s #quotsyjan19 pick, but when you are reading Pratchett, the quotes just come to you. #injustice

"To most of her peers, 'beauty' smacked of the rarefied, the indulgent, the superfluous, the effete. How could persons of good conscience pursue the beautiful when there was so much suffering and #injustice in the world? Ellen Cherry's answer was that if one didn't cultivate beauty, soon he or she wouldn't be able to recognize ugliness. The prevalence of social ugliness made commitment to physical beauty all the more essential." #QuotsyJan19

From the first Dickens I ever read (at age 8.) #injustice #quotsyjan19 @TK-421

GingerAntics Lord I remember having this read to me and enjoying it, but reading Dickens usually drives me nuts. A paragraph that‘s also a single sentence. Sheesh. 7mo
Lcsmcat @GingerAntics He was my first favorite author, and I still love his sentences. And his humor. 7mo
GingerAntics I was always so frustrated with his sentences, especially when I had to diagram them. It made my head hurt. lol 7mo

“[Mr. Jones complained] to anyone who would listen of the monstrous injustice he had suffered in being turned out of his property by a pack of good-for-nothing animals. The other farmers sympathized in principle, but...[a]t heart, each of them was secretly wondering whether he could not somehow turn Jones‘s misfortune to his own advantage.”

Andrew65 @GingerAntics So true, one of my heroes! 8mo
GingerAntics Absolutely. He was cool and collected under incredibly immense pressure from all sides. He was well spoken. People who knew him all seem to say he was a lovely person and exactly what you‘d expect him to be. He‘s what we should all aspire to be in the world. He‘s one of those people who everyone can learn something from. 7mo
Andrew65 @GingerAntics Well said 🙌👏 I love watching and listening to his ‘I have a dream‘ speech on YouTube. Makes the hairs stand up no matter how often I hear / watch it. 7mo
