mcctrish Priya‘s choices seem routed ( like Tara‘s) with parents who enforced gender role stereotypes and family expectations and it‘s heartbreaking. Dev has a relaxation night? I‘d be screaming, literally in his face “ you can relax when you are dead because I am going to kill you right now if you do not start helping me!” This has happened irl in my home and I do not have nearly as much shit going on as Priya 8mo

IndoorDame @mcctrish @TheBookHippie YES!!! I don‘t think I ever wanted to throw this book as much as when I saw ‘relaxation night‘! I‘d be all for it if their life was under control and he wasn‘t taking advantage of her but as is Hell No!! And their life could be under control. This is a couple that can afford outside help in addition to Dev and the kids stepping up. 8mo

IndoorDame The teacher thing actually makes sense for 97, but I can‘t figure out the point of including it in the story except maybe that it helps explain why she allows herself to be treated so poorly. 8mo

Karisa Oh jeez, when you lost it all like that Priya‘s not so likable either… 😬😂 She‘s a doctor for goodness sake. She can hire some help if her husband is that much of a man-child (but honestly even with him chipping in, some help with the kids/house would be warranted) 8mo

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Dev sucks. If my husband ever thought he could have a relaxation night and I didn't get one, he had better sleep with one eye open. They're both prominent doctors... they can afford help. I think Priya's spinelessness regarding her MIL might be cultural. As for sleeping with a teacher...🙄 At least he was fresh out of school and not 50. Did I pick up on the illusion that Suki took the blame? 7mo
