See How They Run | Ally Carter

Layers and layers of intrigue topped off with an excellent unreliable narrator. I think Grace is Carter's darkest-humored heroine, which is an interesting change from her other books, too. The amateur teenage espionage crew grows, as well! #reread #yalit #yathriller

Ace book.
Really great writing, felt very real. Plus an abundance of female characters and authors.

Panpan

Yeah, sorry, this was a pan from me. The story was decent up until the ‘cliff-hanger‘ ending, but the cliff-hanger involved stopping mid-scene with a message along the lines of “want to know what happens next? Buy the next book here.”

I don‘t play that game. Wrap up except for a few unresolved threads and I‘ll happily follow those to the next book, but I didn‘t sign up for a serialised publication in an undisclosed number of parts.

Omg. I‘ve been hoping for this one for a verrrrrry long time. So so so so so so so pleased the author lived through a terrible illness and gave us this incredible conclusion ... THOUGH MAYBE NOT??? to the quartet. Can‘t say much more without spoilers but I was reminded both of Graceling and of Ursula LeGuin. Suffice it to say this ended better than I expected while also being terribly hard, and sad, for many of the characters. 4.5 ⭐️
