Just hangin around outside with FMA while we wait for the rice to cook. Casey gets a small portion with every meal (he eats four times a day thanks to a pancreatitis bout a couple years back) and I plan to steal some from his pot to go with my leftover beans & lotus root. #deweysapril2024
Today also involved the next part of my long-delayed FMA reread. There‘s so much good stuff here, y‘all; so many characters who do the right thing even when it‘s the very hardest thing. It feels extremely topical, too.

I‘ve got an FMA binge in my near future! I managed to get ahead of the other readers by requesting the individual volumes instead of the 3-in-1s, which worked out especially well because somebody recently STOLE the next omnibus. (Boo, library thieves!) I don‘t think I‘ll be able to get any more until late January thanks to some dogsitting gigs that‘ll make it tough for me to access the library, but I‘m gonna enjoy this pre-hiatus glut.
A Chinese feast yesterday means my favourite Hunan-style lotus root for breakfast today!
My epic FMA reread isn‘t going as well as my food. I wanted to do it in September & October, but others had the same idea and the person right in front of me in the holds queue is the type to pick their books up at the end of the wait period and keep ‘em out the full 3 weeks. I‘ve only just got vols 4, 5, & 6, and I‘ll have spotty library access in January.
This morning I went into Toys R Us on a whim and got an Edward Elric Funko Pop for cheap. I‘m all kinds of delighted with him: he‘s got a cool design, I can enjoy all sides of said design at once because he‘s short enough to fit in front of the reflective bracer on my bookshelf, and he‘s given me an excellent excuse to think about how much I love FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST. It‘s all about people who do the right thing even when it‘s the hardest thing. ❤️

pickFullmetal Alchemist is a manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. When two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric use their ability in hopes to bring their mom back from the dead; they are faced with more tragedy and loss. If you enjoy books that are phycological thrillers and play with your emotions, I definitely recommend this book. A theme in this book is sacrifice and how to deal with loss.
