I love this book. Approachable, relatable, and funny - Bill Nye, saving the world, in book form.
Especially for Americans who have very little to no knowledge of evolution that has not been filtered through the Judaeo-Christian world view, this book is a wonderful introduction to the topic of Evolution.
(cont‘d in comments).

GingerAntics It was written in 2014, so obviously our knowledge of evolution has evolved in leaps and bounds since then, but you have to start somewhere, so why not start here with every 90s Kid‘s favourite scientist? Love that he had a teacher named Mrs. McGonagall. Love that he studied under Carl Sagan. Bill Nye obviously loves science and is passionate about accurate science education for all. 5y
GingerAntics Yes, Bill Nye is not a “scientist,” but his engineering degree is science heavy (this should not be news to people, seriously), and he has obviously done his homework and regularly talks to scientists to make sure his information is correct. He is a de facto scientist, or better put, he is a scientist in the same way that anyone before the 20th century was a scientist. He studied under Carl Sagan people, he‘s no idiot or scientific simpleton. 5y

MotionChickness You FLEW through this! I still have about 2 hours! Glad you enjoyed it!! Great review ☺️👍🏻 5y
MotionChickness Also... I was beyond jealous that he had a McGonagall for a teacher!! 5y
GingerAntics @Stephuhhnieee Right? When he first said her name I had to rewind to make sure I was hearing correctly. I was so excited. I couldn‘t figure out how to post “OH MY GOD BILL NYE WAS TAUGHT BY MCGONAGALL!!!” 🤣😂🤣 The fact I flew threw the way I did, the fact I refused to do anything else was part of how I knew The Cruel Prince was just not happening for me. So, on to greener pastures, new things to learn, and better books. 5y
MotionChickness @GingerAntics Yessss!! Lol. And I saw that post! That was one of the books I was going to buy tomorrow 😭 I might just get it from the library, first 👀 5y
ravenlee I have a Facebook friend who keeps blasting Bill Nye for not being a scientist, and all I can think is, “he‘s more of a scientist than you are, and yet you know better than he does?” But she thinks evolution in humans can‘t be true because monkeys still exist...trying to remember why we‘re friends in the first place... 5y
GingerAntics @ravenlee 🤦🏼‍♀️ As Bill says in this book, survival of the fittest is a bit misleading, it‘s more survival of the good enough. That‘s why we still have her, she‘s just good enough to keep reproducing. 5y
ravenlee I like that, survival of the good enough. Luckily she hasn‘t reproduced (Trump supporter, so we‘re very lucky). 5y
GingerAntics @ravenlee 😳 dodged a bullet there. It makes sense, if there was some divine creator, why do people need glasses? Why do our joints wear out? Wouldn‘t a divine creator have made our eyes and our bodies to function properly for our life spans? 5y

Starting this book after seeing it on the feed of @Stephuhhnieee it seems like it will fit nicely into what I‘ve recently read and what I‘ve been pondering lately. Plus, who doesn‘t love Bill Nye. I‘d fist bump him any day!!!

MotionChickness It is like sitting in biology class again... But with a better teacher! 5y
GingerAntics @Stephuhhnieee my bio teacher was legally blind (and somehow the boys soccer coach) and didn‘t teach much. This is WAY better. Side Note: no wonder I floundered so badly when I suddenly found myself majoring in biology in college. I never had a chance. This book is great. I love it. I‘ve always loved Bill Nye though. 5y
MotionChickness @GingerAntics That is an impressive resume on their behalf 😳 My teacher was the typical science teacher.... Would get carried away by a topic they loved and just forget about the rest 😂 I didn‘t do well in the class despite my high interest. This is much better! I‘m actually learning, while being able to swoon over Bills animated voice. 5y

MotionChickness @GingerAntics I‘m glad you‘re enjoying!! 5y
GingerAntics @Stephuhhnieee oh I could listen to Bill Nye teach me just about anything. I had a teacher like that for physics. It was great. I loved him. My bio teacher, he just didn‘t teach anything. I didn‘t even realise that nothing had been taught until I got a different teacher in the second semester and had to play catch up. I did enjoy my second teacher. She was good. The first one was horrible. 5y
GingerAntics @Stephuhhnieee it probably didn‘t help that my district literally took a box cutter or razor blade and removed whole sections of the book because they might be offensive or weren‘t Christian. 🙄 Biology wasn‘t taken very seriously by my district. 5y
