The head vs the heart. #poemoftheday (Poem is actually by Walter de la Mare, not Gertrude Stein.)

Do you believe in fate?

#Poemoftheday Eros Turannos (Love, the Tyrant) by E.A. Robinson. I highly recommend Googling and reading the whole thing.

Spoon River Anthology | Edgar Lee Masters

Pickpick

"At ninety-six I had lived enough, that is all, & passed to a sweet repose."

This book tells the stories of all the inhabitants of Spoon River; murderers, judges, politicians, parents, poor, wealthy, miserable and joyous. It's all in here, told through poetic epitaphs on gravestones. #poemoftheday

"The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."

Another Yeats today because he's only one of the most brilliant, evocative poets of the modern age. He speaks to my hidden frustrations, & inspires me to never give up on the good I know is out there. #poemoftheday

Merethebookgal I wish I could like this more than once! I wrote a paper back in college titled: "'The Widening Gyre:' Revolution and War in W.B. Yeat's Poetry" 8y

"And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow."

I love this poem by Yeats. If I am ever able to afford a little property away from the bustle of everyday life I'm going to name it INNISFREE. #poemoftheday

MrBook Norton! Love it 😁👍🏻. 8y
CaitlinSiem "There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow." I loved that line. What a beautiful poem. I felt more relaxed just reading it. Thank you for sharing! 8y

"Smart lad, to slip betimes away/ From fields where glory does not stay." A.E. Houseman

Such a sad #poemoftheday

MrBook I love my Norton Anthologies! As heavy as giant rocks, and I wouldn't want to be under a falling one, but beautiful nonetheless. 8y
Bkwurm @MrBook They are awesome, aren't they? I kept all of mine from school, and may have purchased one or two supplementary copies from used bookstores. Norton readers unite! 🤓 8y
MrBook Yes!!! I almost giggled there. Shhh *whispers* don't tell anybody. 8y
