The kitten is a role model for children reading the story. She takes chances, never gives up, tries out different strategies, and does not get down on herself.
pickKitten's First Full Moon is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes. It was published in 2004, the book tells the story of a kitten who thinks the moon is a bowl of milk and tries many different attempts to drink it. It 2005 Caldecott Medal for his illustrations. The book is heart warming and would be perfect for children with cats. The illustrations are black and white but convey the story very well.
