At 70, author Elizabeth Berg reflects on the decline of her aging parents back in 2010.It‘s a touching story of endurance and support as well as the frustrations that arise with aging.t is not a sappy love story about parents who “lived happily ever after” Most people would prefer to age gracefully with pride and dignity intact. It‘s a delicate, precarious balance to ensure that happens while maintaining the safety and support that is essential.

I am usually a fan of memoirs, but didn't enjoy this one (even though I like the author's fiction). It's about the time in Berg's life when her parents are aging and her father starts the descent into Alzheimer's. One of her mom's sister dies and so the mom becomes depressed, but from Berg's perspective she thinks her mom is mad and angry. I know everyone's journey is different, but having recently been through this with my mom, I couldn't relate.

This book was simply...wonderful. Arthur is a widower who meets Maddy, an almost 18-year old girl, in the cemetery where he visits his wife's grave. They develop a friendship that surpasses age and their differences. It was heartwarming and sweet, and I can't wait to move on to Night of Miracles by #ElizabethBerg.

JanuarieTimewalker13 Perfectly said!! Great review! I just finished the book and loved it so much! 5y
