8-22-22: My 83rd finished book of 2022! Another bizarre book by Mr. Palahniuk. Shannon is a beautiful fashion model who suffers a terrible accident which leaves her disfigured. She loses all that is perfect in her life but gains Brandy Alexander, a transgender woman, who is going to help Shannon be reborn. ⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣8️⃣3️⃣

This one wasn't for me. I really want to like Palahniuk books, but it doesn't happen often.

allureofbeauty Aww that‘s too bad. That‘s my favorite. 4mo
AmyG His books….either you love them or not. 4mo
AFrostCauseReads I remember reading an interview with him, and he explained how people would often tell him they don‘t like reading but like his books. And how he went on to realize his books aren‘t for readers, they‘re for people who don‘t like reading but want to. I myself used to love his books, they‘re what got me back into reading, but now I wonder if I tried another of his if I would like it as much 🤷🏼‍♀️ (edited) 4mo

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego @AFrostCauseReads that's an interesting perspective, not sure I would agree with him though. I think maybe it's just where I am in my life. 4mo
MicheleinPhilly I‘ve tried two, including this one. He‘s not for me. 4mo
DimeryRene @AFrostCauseReads That is interesting to hear. I read many of his books about 9 years ago, and liked them all. Haven‘t read any or reread any since. I wonder if I‘d still like them too! 4mo
TieDyeDude I have all of his books up until the last couple. He is an interesting writer who always tries to challenge himself, but sometimes those exercises might be better left as exercises. I never connected with the character or the philosophy of feeling responsible for someone you saved, so I never got a lot out of this book. 4mo
TheNeverendingTBR I found this hilarious at parts. 1mo

Pickpick

How do we carry parts of us when we go through change? Which parts do we let go, and which parts do we keep? What happens when we board up a house filled with our faults, and then need to break back in?

I know this is supposed to be satire, but it was gratuitous and, quite frankly, kinda gross. And while the writing style was certainly unique, it quickly became distracting. I think I might not be quite smart enough for this one. 🤷🏻‍♀️
That said, there were some funny parts (the running joke about the missing batteries is hilarious, albeit a little vulgar), and I think I liked the ending. (CONT‘D ⬇️)…

Maggie4483 My cousin loaned this to me, and I gave her Zombie by Joyce Carol Oates. After I gave her Zombie (heavily based on Jeffrey Dahmer and VERY disturbing), I worried what she would think of me for recommending it. It only took until Ch. 2 of Pygmy to realize I had nothing to worry about. We are definitely cut from the same cloth 👯‍♀️ 9mo

Bailedbailed

Please help me if I‘m missing something! All I could think was this is like the novelization of a Quentin Tarantino movie- and that‘s not a compliment from me lol. I bailed about half way in. Am I missing something, is there a better book to start with by this author? #chuckpalahniuk #invisiblemonsters
