I read the first 2 chapters last night, and I can already see the comparison to Jane Austen! ❤

The above photos show 1) Kingston Maurwood, an estate near Dorchester which could act as Jane's home, and 2) Dorchester high street during the 19th century.

If you've chosen Far From the Madding Crowd as your first book, Dorchester is the basis for #Casterbridge and Puddletown is #Weatherbury.

jenniferw88 This post might help with #FFTheMaddingCrowd @Cathythoughts - I live in Hardy's #Wessex, so if you have any questions about the setting I may be the Litten to ask! 6y
Cathythoughts Thankyou so much. You will be our go to person 👍🏻. And thanks for reminding me I‘m meant to be reading it , instead of chilling out on Litsy & drinking coffee! OK... that‘s it I‘m going reading #FFTheMaddingCrowd now. I love your pics , they are setting the mood 🙏🏻❤️ 6y
batsy Awesome, that's great to know about Dorchester/Casterbridge! 6y
jenniferw88 @Cathythoughts I forgot to mention that I used the book for a presentation at uni (my degree was English Literature) so know quite a bit about it. My presentation was for a module called "Literature of Sexuality" and my work partner and I presented it in "Blind Date" style - I even got the music off YouTube! ? 6y
