A Ghoul's Guide to Love and Murder | Victoria Laurie
3 posts | 1 read | 6 to read
Medium M. J. Holliday battles demons in the tenth Ghost Hunter Mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of No Ghouls Allowed. M.J., Heath, and Gilley, are back home in Boston, where their new film is sure to be a monster hit! To promote the film, the studio is sponsoring a special exhibit of supernatural artifacts at a local museum. Unfortunately, Gilley—whose mind is engaged with wedding plans—gets talked into donating to the exhibit the very dagger that keeps the dangerous ghost Oruç and his pet demon locked down in the lower realms. Before M.J. can recover the bewitched blade, there’s a murder and a heist at the museum, and the dagger is stolen. Now Oruç is coming for M.J. and her crew, and he's bringing with him some fiendish friends from M.J.’s haunted past. She, Gilley, and Heath are certain to be in for a devil of a time. M.J. may even need to recruit a certain skeptical Boston detective to help stop the paranormal party crashers from turning Gilley’s wedding bells to funeral knells. . . . From the Paperback edition.

Pickpick

Fun, quick read with a little mystery and ghosts. I think I'll go back and read the rest of the series. You know, once this round of library books is done. I recommend this one to anyone looking for a cozy with a a paranormal twist, but maybe you should start at the beginning of the series for full effect. Think of it as prepping for Halloween.

I haven't read others in this series but I've read over Victoria Laurie books. They are enjoyable and fun, and if you like a paranormal twist in your mystery then she's a good choice. I also like them because they are super fast reads. They are light enough to read after something intense or if you just have a couple of hours. I started this one late last night instead of going to sleep and now I'm finishing it during our storm.

Lauren_reading I've read the first few in this series and enjoyed them. Fun ghost stories - the only kind I can handle 😀 8y
jpmcwisemorgan @LaurenReads Yes, they aren't even really complex mysteries either. The Psychic Eye series is the one I've read the most of. I just like her books because they aren't intense and are fun. She does well developing her characters too. 8y
ValerieAndBooks Is this YA? The series looks good-- will have to check it out👻 8y

jpmcwisemorgan @ValerieAndBooks No, it's not YA. Laurie's books are some of the better cozies out there. 8y
ValerieAndBooks The cover looks sort of YA which is why I asked. Thanks! Going to find out which is first and request from the library (if they have it). Looks great for October! 8y
jpmcwisemorgan @ValerieAndBooks Her Psychic Eye series is good too. Neither are scary or anything so for people who don't like horror but want some paranormal for October both would be good choices. 8y
