Pickpick

While not my favorite of the series, there is plenty to unpack here - gangs, racism, excessive use of force. It‘s sad to see topics that are front and center today in a book written in 1960. Will we ever learn to be better?

Pickpick

This book was a little polemic, but McBain handled his thoughts on racism & gangs well enough that I didn't mind. I wasn't expecting to get smacked in the feels by this story, but I totally was. One of my faves in the series so far.
Side note: my library only has LP editions, which make me feel like I am FLYING through the story!!!

Not much reading time yesterday as we had an unusually busy Sunday. Short paddle around a local lake - lots of herons, but no fish. Afternoon/evening at the Outlaw Country Music Festival - Avett Brothers, Willie Nelson, Allison Krauss, & Old Crow Medicine Show. Old Crow's energy was amazing; they were my faves for the evening! Today should be quieter & back to regular life!
