I found this #ChristopherPike gem in Wisconsin over the weekend, and I was flooded with memories of reading in the hallway light after bedtime so my parents wouldn‘t see my bedroom light on... I read every one of his books until graduating to Stephen King. #youngadultmemories

I grew up reading Goosebumps, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and Christopher Pike (when I felt like reading "risqué" and "naughty" things). I am pretty sure my mom never caught me with one, or we might have some certain talks. ?
With that, I've donated most of my collection, but had to keep this to show my rebellious side. ? Maybe a reread, with this lovely Pendulum Pilsner, should be tonight's plan?
#AllHallowsRead #Scaretober ???

BookishFeminist How is the Pilsner?! I haven't tried that one yet. 8y
JPeterson @BookishFeminist I love it! I'm already tempted to buy another 6 pack tomorrow. 🍺 8y
Johanna414 Isn't it funny how we try to hide these things as kids? My mom is a librarian so I was allowed to read whatever I wanted, but I still felt compelled to hide my Lois Duncan library books... 8y

tysephine Oh man, I have so many Christopher Pike books in a box somewhere. They were my jam back in the day. The only Goosebumps book I remember reading was the one with the evil mask and it freaked me out. 8y
beaniebankbeth @JPeterson I'm teaching Poe right now. I think I need to do some "research." 8y
JPeterson @Johanna414 Right? I was never told I couldn't read things, just got into my head that I had to be sneaky about it! Haha @tysephine I remember some goosebumps giving me nightmares; all Pike did was make me cringe and feel unsettled (in more ways then one 😝). @beaniebankbeth I agree! This research seems hella important. 😉 8y
Zelma That looks like the perfect creepy and delicious combination. @Johanna414 and @JPeterson I never hid my books, but I remember thinking my folks would appalled if they actually read V.C. Andrews and saw what was in those books. Even as a teen, I knew they were depraved. 😂 8y
