While the draw here is the firsthand account of the 2011 raid that resulted in the death of Osama Bin Laden, I was more interested in the nuts and bolts of daily Navy Seal life - especially the mindset and the details of their private culture. Owen (an alias) has seen and done grim things and doesn‘t sugarcoat his warfighting experiences. While sobering and at times gut-wrenching, I appreciated seeing history through his night vision goggles.

This was one of the easiest military reads I have ever had. There was not a ton of military lingo that a civilian wouldn't know, or isn't clearly explained. It was also a very quick read.

Photo of the skittles is just because I am incredibly happy to have the lime back.

Excellent book. Caught my attention from the First paragraph. Well written and even answered a few of my questions from when it happened.

I don't really know what to say about this book. I live next to a military base and interact with soldiers all the time. Remembering all the media coverage and what was said about this mission really puts into perspective the information the media puts out into the world. Definitely nice to know how this mission was actually executed and affected the military personnel involved. 5 ⭐️

Literary_Siren This is also not a kind of book I normally read. It was recommended by a former Ranger friend of mine. 7y
