In A HISTORY OF FOOD IN 100 RECIPES, William Sitwell chronicles the history of food and cooking, through iconic dishes. He researches the origins of those recipes, and explores how they have impacted culture and civilization. He traced the first recipe for ice cream to Mary Eales, back in 1718. Take a look at the second photo and see if you're up to the challenge of making her recipe. Happy #nationalicecreamday everyone!

#SeptPhotoChallenge Day 2 - Number in the title

For anyone who enjoys history, cultural anthropology, food, cooking, or things food-adjacent this is a fascinating book. There are indeed 100 recipes within, spanning from 1900's BC to 2011 AD. But alongside the recipes are interesting stories about the ingredients, interviews with chefs and producers, and cultural tidbits that add context to the recipe.
