4 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
For this elite group of teenagers, New York is all about parties, fashion...AND BLOOD. Schuyler Van Alen is a loner, and happy that way. But when she turns fifteen, her life dramatically changes. A mosaic of blue veins appears on her arms, and she begins to have memories of another time and place. When a classmate is found dead at a night club, the mystery deepens. Most surprising of all, Jack Force, the hottest boy in school, starts showing a sudden interest in her. Schuyler wants answers, but is she prepared to learn the truth...especially when she discovers her part in it? The sexy and secretive world of the Blue Bloods comes to life in this stunning graphic novel adaptation of Book One in Melissa de la Cruz's internationally best-selling series.

within is completely different. The colors and detail are consistent throughout, bringing this world gorgeously to life. I particularly loved the illustration of the Repository and all of Schuyler's flashbacks. The character designs, for the most part, were *perfect*. I wasn't crazy about Oliver's representation, but he's my favorite character so that is no surprise. Schuyler, Bliss, Mimi, and Allegra were all dead-on, though!

I was a bit surprised by how much I enjoyed this adaptation of the first Blue Bloods book! It was sleek, pretty, and moved very quickly. This story seemed to lend itself to the graphic novel format extremely well ; the parts that kind of drug in the actual book were skipped altogether here, and everything still made perfect sense.

I LOVE the art style - this is not one of those books where the cover is absolutely gorgeous and the art(cont)

OKAY. So I'm really excited about this review because I've read Blue Bloods 1 & 2, but stopped after that because her writing style, although beautiful, drags too much for me and my attention kept wandering. I'm so glad they made the first one a graphic novel! The art is beautiful, almost on par with her writing, and it tells the truly fascinating story and developed characters well. I wish I could finish the series like this!

queerbookreader @anj-neophyte It was so cool I wish she made more of them 8y
anj-neophyte @lemonlime799 wow thats so cool! Wicked, haha. I better look for that! Yeah, I hope she makes all it. I can feel you about the dragging part. There are times I almost gave up but it was Oliver Hazard Perry is who got me through. 😍😍 8y
