A fun, light epistolary novel following two best friends in 1982 who are separated after high school graduation and keeping in touch through letters. #MountTBR

#kindledeal

Several great books on today‘s daily deal. I picked up this one that I heard recommended a lot when it first came out. Just in time for summer reading!!!

Sweet/Depressing. I liked the concept, but it was a little hard to follow at times and jumped quite a bit. Not a big fan of any of the characters

Set in the 1980s, Cath and Scott have been best friends who grew up across the street from each other. Cath goes away to college, Scott stays home to work. "Sometimes an end is really a beginning."

🌟I finished #wearestilltornadoes the other day and I'm happy to say it's my second 5 star read of the year! I really loved it and I'll try to get a full review up on my blog soon for it.🌟

Another one that looks like is going to be a good read, especially since it speaks to the letter writer in me. Can't resist a story told about letters or through letters.

Had this galley sitting on my desk. It fits. #epistolary #readjanuary. No idea if this page is a spoiler or not so to be on the safe side.

This was so fresh and charming, filled with heart and humor, and though I think it‘s simply perfect for the YA crowd, this thirty five year old loved it as well. My only small complaint is with the ending, it just seemed a bit rushed, but with the direction that it took, I completely understood why it ended in this manner. Please don‘t let that stop you from picking this one up though, it was still very much worth the read.

How do you all feel about setting YA books in the 1980s? Do current teens even wax nostalgic about the 80s like people my age (30+) do? Are books set in the 80s meant more for us nostalgia seekers or for actual teens?

#currentlyreading We Are Still Tornados. I really like the book, but have to wonder why it's YA and not an adult book for older millennials/GenXers with crossover appeal.

Although the letters back & forth between best friends, Scott and Catherine are full of fun and insight, I still felt distanced - we can't really see their true feelings for each other (until the very end), and so much of their story is inferred. But still, there were enough sad times so we could see how much they relied on each other. I enjoyed Scott's song lyrics, and Cath's snark was spot on for an 80s girl. Also lots of nods to 80s music.
