2-21-23: My 21st finished book of 2023! I loved this story. Two timelines, England 1898-1907 and California 2006-2007. In 1898, Evelyn embarks on a happy marriage to William Aubrey but things turn sour quickly. And Evelyn must find a way out. In 2006, Abigail, who lost her mother at 14, finds a picture that changes her whole life‘s trajectory and sends her on a fact finding mission to England to learn of her ancestry.

Never heard of this one but I needed something for the plane.

TheSpineView I used to enjoy flying, now not so much. The lines, the delays, rude people, etc. Makes me cringe. Hope you flight goes well and travel safe. 1y
Sharpeipup @thespineview Luckily it was out of a smaller airport so it was smooth sailing 1y

I liked this book quite a lot, though it was fairly predictable (given its title). I love Victorian-set stories, and this one is parallel timelines, so it combines Victorian with modern and is clever.
