I finished! This book was okay. Creepy situation with an explanation that felt a little flat. Dual timeline structure that mostly worked but sometimes didn‘t.

The MC made some boneheaded decisions but was also not well served by her support system/safety net.

Though I wasn‘t crazy about this book, I‘d consider reading more by this author. I think we‘ll have a good book club discussion.

This book is a little unsettling, which is not surprising from a psychological thriller, but in any case I set it aside for a few days. Book club is on Wednesday, and I have about 100 pages to go.

No baseball on TV tonight. Just football, but at least it‘s the Ravens. 💜

AllDebooks 👀 I find psychological thrillers far more disturbing than horror, simply for the realism. 7d

I managed to read about 1/3 of the book around various activities this weekend, and I‘m pleased with that progress. I‘ll definitely finish it by the book club meeting next Wednesday and start some other books too. #summersend

Tonight‘s selection for #hyggehourreadathon while I decide whether to finish my dinner or take it home to eat for lunch one day this week.

August hasn‘t been great for reading, for a number of reasons, but I hope to finish the tagged book for the #summersend readathon. It‘s the first up of September book club selections. The Litsy comments are not encouraging, but I‘ll see what happens!

Thanks to @Bookwormjillk for organizing!

Bookwormjillk I hope it‘s better than expected! 3w

This seemed like a YA novel with a plot straight out of a soap opera. The writing isn‘t bad but it wasn‘t what I expected given the title and cover.

This kept my interest and I couldn‘t figure out what was going on until the reveal was all laid out, but at the end, I had some unanswered questions. But there was a lot of tension and it was very atmospheric. I think if there were more backstory on Frank‘s character, it would‘ve helped. Low pick for me!

This was intense by times, but I figured out what was happening long before it was revealed. Also, it's a bit far-fetched. I didn't find Maya and Dan's relationship all that believable. I give this a solid 3 out of 5. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This is a good first novel. At times, it was a bit sporadic and disorienting, but part of me thinks that was intentional, with the subject matter and story. It is a very good take on things like trauma and addiction. Also, it is a pick of Reese's Book Club, which was founded by Reese Witherspoon and features books with “women at the center of the story,“ so that is pretty cool.

I expected this to be a lot better. It seemed really scattered and the story just never really picked up for me. This one just was slow and never really got anywhere that grabbed my interest.

I enjoyed this thriller, very tense and atmospheric. I think it would have been interesting if we had a bit more backstory on Frank's character.

So I found this book in the LFL this AM and was going to bring it to the book sale, but then I read the jacket copy:
"Plunged into the trauma that has defined her life, Maya heads to her Berkshires hometown to relive that fateful summer."
Oh, does she now?
I flip through, and "Pittsfield" jumps right out at me.
I have no idea how the rest of the book is, but she got Pittsfield in the ‘80s right on this page.
Cruising North Street, indeed. ?

Aimeesue The Pop Corner - we got popcorn there all the time when we were kids. Still there. Still pretty cool. https://www.berkshireeagle.com/archives/jim-shulman-baby-boomer-memories-popcorn... 2y

Wow! This was an unexpected thriller! I hadn't figured it out until the narrator literally explained in detail how Frank had manipulated Maya into thinking he was something that he was not. I don't want to say too much but this is a must read! I still have some unanswered questions so I'm heading to Reese's book club site to get more info. It was a little slow in some places but overall a great read! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cpg Reading this now....keeping my interest!!! 🤓📖 3y
BookLineNSinker @Cpg I can't wait to hear what you think! 3y
Cpg Yes it was good! So much back and forth on the 7 year time span- nothing can be written in chronological order anymore! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Lol! Have to keep us alert though!!! 3y
