Anti-Heroes
Anti-Heroes: Volume One | Megan Derr
4 posts | 1 read
In the early 1600s, the people of Earth were forever changed when a meteor roared into its atmosphere, shattered into hundreds of pieces, and crashed all over the planet, killing thousands. And as children of the time grew into adulthood, many of them displayed strange, impossible abilities: incredible strength; inhuman speed; the ability to control elements; the power to read minds; and countless others. They were labeled witches, and slaughtered mercilessly, driving the survivors into hiding, until one especially powerful witch went on a rampage, killing half of Europe, and it took the combined efforts of the remaining witches to stop him.Afterward, new ways were found, of registering and organizing these 'super' humans, creating rules and safeguards, a system to both regulate and protect them. The World Board was established to maintain peace across the globe, and the Grand Order of Defenders (G.O.D.) alongside it, an order of super 'heroes' who maintain law and order all over the world. But not everyone regards the G.O.D. as noble champions protecting the people. They see the murder, the destruction, the malicious abuse of power, and the rampant corruption of a group too powerful to be stopped. These rogues are labeled villains, and there's nothing the G.O.D. won't do to stop or kill them. This volume collects the first three stories of the Anti-Heroes, the villains, rogues, and traitors who have decided enough is enough, and it's time to put an end to the G.O.D. once and for all...

Close enough to touch, book 3

The shortest outing yet but it still slaps! This one has a lot happening in it, with all the “anti-heroes” from earlier outings showing up along with some that had only been mentioned. The central romance did get a bit overshadowed by the action sequences but still very enjoyable. This one had all the found family feels.

Turncoat, book 2

After blowing his house up to “avoid detection” after a injured cat burglar crashes over his back gate, Dixie ends up on the run, falling in love, trying to deny it & getting closer and closer to his life goal of destroying the computer system that he built with his father - who was murdered by their employer (it‘s the “heroes” they kind of suck) who were essentially holding them hostage.

I was HOOKED.

Trick of the Light, book 1.

Karl sells super hero insurance & collects watches - and secretly thinks that heroes maybe aren‘t that heroic - which is good since he find injured “supervillain” Trick of the Light, knocked out and invisible and decides to take him home.

Soon, Karl find his self proclaimed boring life anything but… romance, explosions, watch trivia - this had it all!
