Ghibliotheque: An Unofficial Guide to the Movies of Studio Ghibli | Jake Cunningham, Michael Leader
2 posts | 2 read
Based on the Ghibliotheque podcast, which leafs through the library of films from the world's greatest animation studio, Studio Ghibli. A fully illustrated book that reviews each Studio Ghibli movie in turn, in the voice of expert and newcomer. Will include details of production, release, themes, key scenes and general review as well as Ghibli-specific information. To be illustrated with stills and posters from each movie and (hopefully) portraits of directors, writers and creative team.

I really enjoyed watching some of the movies again after reading this book. Created by fans, this is a fun dive in to the history of the company and what inspired the characters, themes and landscapes of each movie. It includes some gorgeous unique artwork too.

Highly recommended to fans of Studio Ghibli 😃

It was cool to read some studio background information on the Studio Ghibli movies I grew up with at Grandma and Grandpa‘s house. The book is basically a published podcast of two guys who are fans of the movies. The movies are presented in chronological order with the studio tidbits and then their review. It‘s a nice read and inspired me to watch the rest of the movies I hadn‘t seen yet from Studio Ghibli, but it does feel unofficial.
