In an all-consuming novel of suspense from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jackson, the survivor of a brutal family massacre must uncover the shocking truth about a fateful night that left her forever marked . . . All her life, she's been the girl who survived. Orphaned at age seven after a horrific killing spree at her family's Oregon cabin, Kara McIntyre is still searching for some kind of normal. But now, twenty years later, the past has come thundering back. Her brother, Jonas, who was convicted of the murders has unexpectedly been released from prison. The press is in a frenzy again. And suddenly, Kara is receiving cryptic messages from her big sister, Marlie-who hasn't been seen or heard from since that deadly Christmas Eve when she hid little Kara in a closet with a haunting, life-saving command: Don't make a sound. As people close to her start to die horrible deaths, Kara, who is slowly and surely unraveling, believes she is the killer's ultimate target. Kara survived once. But will she survive again? How many times can she be the girl who survived?

At 1st I thought it took a while to get to the reveal, like the characters were wondering who the killer was but no action 4 a while. I will say that it had a very good climax and the ending was satisfying! I did enjoy the development of Kara. I want to check out more of the author‘s works. When I went to Barnes & Noble I couldn‘t find any. This would make a good tv mini series.

I don‘t know what was wrong with me, but I had a hard time getting into this one. Kara survives a horrible Christmas when, as a child, her family was murdered. Now, twenty years later, her brother who was convicted of the killings is out of prison, Kara is getting cryptic messages, and people start dying again. I think I was in a funk, because I should have enjoyed it more than I did.

I used to inhale this author back in the day. I‘m now wondering why I quit reading her. This was a really good suspense both a psychological and thriller at the same time with a dash of romance. (Not romance driven in my opinion anyhow). Great pacing and characters. Quick read for sure.
